DPS searching for semi-truck driver in deadly hit-and-run crash

The 74 year old was pronounced dead after the semi-truck driver failed to yield right of way.

DAWSON COUNTY, Texas — DPS is asking for help locating a driver in a hit and run crash in Dawson County.

According to the crash report, officers were called to State Highway 349 seven miles outside of Lamesa around 6:45 a.m. on August 31.

Manuel Sandoval had been driving his truck north on SH 349 when he was hit by a semi truck who failed to yield right of way at the stop sign on FM 2051.

A witness told DPS the semi truck fled after hitting Sandoval.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact DPS by calling Sgt. Oscar Villarreal at 432-498-2174, emailing Oscar.villarreal@dps.texas.gov  or submitting an anonymous tip through crime stoppers. 432-333-TIPS (8477).
