Life after addiction for Nathan Isaacks

Springboard Center employee shares his story of overcoming addiction then returning to work for the center to help others.

MIDLAND, Texas —

The journey of getting treatment for addiction can seem like a rough road to travel, but it’s one that leads to a happier life.

Nathan Isaacks is the business development specialist for The Springboard Center in Midland. He said he makes sure the bills get paid and the lights stay on at the center.

However, life wasn’t always like this for him. At one point in time, about five years ago, he used to be a client of The Springboard Center.

"Going through that process, initially, was scary and difficult. But the more I went into it and the more Springboard helped me along, the more I began to heal and the more I began to find who I really was and really enjoy and embrace life," said Isaacks.

Seeing all that he can achieve from embracing life is what made him realize he wanted to give back to others who have gone through what he did.

“In 2021 I got a phone call and I had moved out of Midland, I was in Amarillo, and Springboard called me and said, ‘hey, would you like to come work for us?’ And you know, Springboard has been so impactful in my life and given me a life I couldn’t imagine, so I jumped at the chance," Isaacks said. "I started working here at The Springboard Center and I’ve been here a little over two and a half years and it’s just a wonderful experience to give back and to be a part of the same process that helped me get to where I am today.”

Isaacks said getting your life back together after addiction may take some work, but it’s by no means impossible.

“Not only is life not over when you first get sober, quite the opposite, that’s when life truly begins,” said Isaacks.
