Two people in critical condition after major accident near 7th and Dixie

Two people were taken to the hospital, one with life-threatening injuries.

ODESSA, Texas — Update:

Odessa Police has provided an update on Thursday evening's major crash.

The crash occurred on the 1300 block of 7th Street shortly after 6 p.m.

Domenic Sanchez, 35 was traveling westbound in a 1998 Chevrolet, and Abigail Rueda, 26, was traveling eastbound in a westbound lane of 7th Street in a red 2014 Lincoln MKX.

According to investigators, Rueda was traveling at a high rate of speed, and the vehicles collided head-on.

Rueda was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries where was pronounced as dead just before 1:30 a.m. Friday.

Sanchez was also transported with serious bodily injuries.

Odessa Police Department responded to a major accident near 7th and Dixie Thursday night.

The crash happened shortly before 7 p.m. near the Ponderosa Villas apartment complex.

Extreme damage was sustained to both vehicles, and all parties involved were taken to local hospitals.

It's not yet clear the extent of the injuries, nor how many people were involved.
