Union Pacific provides update on Pyote train cars derailment

Union Pacific hopes the mainline track will open later this evening after the impacted train cars get placed off the track and the track gets repaired.

PYOTE, Texas — A Union Pacific Railroad Personnel has just reported an update on the train cars derailment from Wednesday.

On Wednesday, May 1 at about 3 p.m., there were approximately 35 train cars carrying mixed freight, including auto tracks that derailed about 1.5 miles east of Pyote, Texas.

According to Union Pacific, no one was injured and hazmat was not involved.

Cleanup continues as the impacted train cars get placed off the track and the train track gets repaired. They hope to have the mainline track open later this evening.

The incident is currently under investigation, according to Union Pacific.
