No injuries reported in train derailment west of Pyote

According to Ward County Captain Rudolfo Ozuna, the Ward County Sheriff's Office got the first call about the derailment at 3:01 p.m.

PYOTE, Texas — NewsWest 9 is learning that a train derailed west of Pyote on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Ward County Captain Rudolfo Ozuna, the Ward County Sheriff's Office got the first call about the derailment at 3:01 p.m.

The derailment happened at the 63 mile marker of I-20, west of Pyote.

According to Texas DPS, 20 train cars derailed and no injuries were reported.

No cars were damaged, neither has I-20 been damaged.

The railroad track is currently out of commission, according to Captain Ozuna.

The Ward County Sheriff's Office, Texas DPS and Union Pacific are investigating the incident.

NewsWest9 has reached out to the National Transportation Safety Board to see if it will get involved.
