ECTOR COUNTY, Texas — Ector County Chair candidate Donna Kelm released a statement following OPD's reported assault between her and Ector County Precinct 203 candidate Carmen Wilhite.

This is what Kelm said in a statement to NewsWest 9:

"I would like to first thank everyone for all the text messages, phone calls, and prayers. I ‘m overwhelmed with the love and support that I have received. Several citizens in our community were approached about putting their names on the ballot to run for Party chair but chose not to because of the tactics of the current Party leadership. We have witnessed this against Dewey Bryant, David Turner, and Brooks Landgraf. I am committed to changing the incivility of our local politics. I started this campaign with integrity, and I will end it with integrity. I plead with all the candidates to stop the bullying and the dissemination of untruths being published or said. Voters should not be afraid to vote. Men and women in the armed forces have lost their lives to give us the freedom to vote. Please turn these prayers into votes and exercise your right. God Bless our Nation, God Bless Texas, and God bless Odessa." - Donna Kelm, Ector County Republican Party candidate
