According to the BSPD, the preliminary report showed pulmonary emphysema with bullae formation. Pulmonary emphysema is a chronic lung condition that causes airflow blockage and breathing problems, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine.

When officers originally found Bullard's body, a group of dogs ran from the area. Additionally, Bullard's body was found with animal predation. The preliminary findings from the medical examiners added that the animal wounds happened postmortem.

Big Spring Police have added that Bullard's death is still under investigation "pending further studies" and that Big Spring Animal Control has taken measures to identify, locate, and seize two of the dogs involved in this incident.
