Midland ISD shares goals that will run through the year 2028

The Midland ISD Board has five goals in total. The first two goals are about third grade students scoring meets on the STAAR tests.

MIDLAND, Texas — The Midland Independent School District Board held a meeting Monday to share goals with the community that will run through the year 2028.

Last week, MISD adopted the new goals.

There are five goals in total. The first two are about third grade students scoring meets on the STAAR tests. Goals three and four are centered around growth and progress, with the district expanding within a growth measure. The final goal relates to college career and military readiness.

MISD is trying to make sure that every student they graduate in that program is ready for college, a career or the military.

Another widely addressed topic recently is the Ranchland Hills Golf Course. MISD owns the land where the golf course sits. The district plans to build a new Midland High School there.

The district is now calling a special meeting to talk about it.

"The board has called a special board meeting Wednesday night. It'll be at Bowie Elementary Fine Arts Academy at 5:30 p.m.," said MISD Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Howard. "That is a special meeting for a discussion item related to the MISD owned property at Ranchland Hills."
