Two arrested after fleeing OPD traffic stop on foot

The driver, 24-year-old Nathan Stephens, was charged with evading arrest, evading on foot and reckless driving amongst other things.

ODESSA, Texas — Two people have been arrested for evading arrest among other things by the Odessa Police Department.

On Wednesday at about 11:40 p.m., OPD attempted to stop a reckless driver in the 3700 block of Tanglewood. The vehicle stopped, however the occupants refused to exit the vehicle.

The driver backed up during the traffic stop and took off, evading officers.

Officers pursued the vehicle until the driver slammed on the brakes, causing an officer hit his vehicle and damage a cinder block fence in an alleyway.

Both the driver and passenger fled from the vehicle on foot, and a perimeter was established. Both were located and placed under arrest.

The driver was identified as 24-year-old Nathan Stephens, who was arrested for evading in a motor vehicle, possession of controlled substance, evading on foot, reckless driver and many warrants for his arrest: possession of marijuana, theft, burglary of a vehicle, theft of a firearm, two charges of burglary of a vehicle and three charges of attempted burglary of a vehicle.

The passenger was identified as Nathaniel Tinner and was arrested for evading arrest on foot.
