Winter storm warning issued for most of West Texas

A Winter Storm Warning and a Blizzard Warning are in effect until Monday morning. A strong cold front will move through our area this afternoon bringing very strong northerly winds with gusts over 50 mph in areas.

A strong cold front will move through our area this afternoon bringing very strong northerly winds with gusts over 50 mph in areas.

Snow will move across I-20 around midnight on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

Heaviest snow will occur on Sunday with up to 8 inches possible across I-20 and the Midland/Odessa metro area.

Higher snowfall will occur across southeast New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle with isolated areas over 1 foot of total snowfall.

Road and driving conditions will deteriorate very quickly and the roads will become dangerous on Sunday.

With the strong winds, we will see wind chill values in the single digits with a few areas in the negative.

We are expecting church and business closures as we head into Monday morning.

Snow will end early on Monday morning, but temperatures will remain below freezing, so driving conditions will remain dangerous.

We will see temperatures in the 20's with wind chill values in the single digits as we head into earl parts of next week.
