Midlander announces candidacy for vacant Midland City Council position

MIDLAND, Texas — According to the City of Midland, the late Dan Corrales' vacant seat on Midland City Council has its first candidate.

Sixty-one-year-old James "Bull" Henry filed for the position on Tuesday, the first day applicants could file, to officially run for the at-large seat. The special election is set to take place on May 4.

According to a press release sent to NewsWest 9 by Henry, he came to Midland in 1980 and is a carpenter by trade. 

In the release, it states that he was involved in the construction of almost every apartment complex along Loop 250, which used to be Hwy 868.

In 1999, Henry went to work for Midland County's Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Judge David Cobos, according to the release.

Henry has worked with local government, Midland ISD, the Midland Police Department, Midland County Sheriff's Office and other local agencies and businesses, according to the release. He retired from work that he did in Midland County in 2019.

He has four children and eight grandchildren.
