Early voting in Texas is underway | Here’s how the Midland County Elections Office is preparing

Early voting in Texas is in full swing for the 2024 primary election. Early voting runs from Tuesday, Feb. 20 to Friday, March 1.

MIDLAND COUNTY, Texas — Early voting in Texas is underway for the 2024 primary election, which runs from Tuesday, Feb. 20 to Friday, March 1.

Voters are choosing candidates for president, U.S. Senate, both houses of the Texas Legislature and local races.

In 2024, more Texans registered to vote compared to the last primary election, according to Rosa Holguin with the Midland County Elections Office.

“Midland County has around 94,000 voters compared to the last primary back in 2020, when the numbers were 86,000,” said Holguin.

Registered and eligible Texans may vote at any early voting location within their designated county. The Vote Texas website can be used to locate early voting locations. Polling place hours may vary.

“It’s always important to make sure you have your voice heard,” Holguin said. “If you’re not coming out then you are letting individuals who do vote make those decisions for your city, your country, for your schools and for everything that goes on.”

According to Holguin, Midland County voters can select a "Spanish" option at the check-in kiosks and voting machines, which are located at the Midland County Elections Office's five early voting locations. They also offer assistance to voters with any illness or disability that prevents them from walking into the polling location.

“We do offer curbside voting at all five of our early voting locations," Holguin said. "You can pull up to the Curbside Voting sign, call the number on the sign and we will get in contact with the election judge at that location to come out to your vehicle and assist you on voting.”

Election Day is Tuesday, March 5; all polling places across Texas will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. As long as you get in line before 7 p.m., you will be able to vote.
