ECSO currently investigating West Odessa shooting that left two hospitalized near party

On Saturday, Ector County deputies received a call of a loud party and shots fired at Whirlaway Dr. in West Odessa. Two gunshot victims suffered serious injuries.

WEST ODESSA, Texas — Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis tells NewsWest 9 that two people were shot in a West Odessa neighborhood Saturday morning.

According to Chad Hewitt, lead investigator working this case, on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 1:50 a.m., Ector County deputies received a call of a loud party and shots fired in the 12100 block of Whirlaway Dr.

When Ector County deputies arrived to the scene, two people were shown to have gunshot wounds. One person was transported to Odessa Regional Medical Center and the other was transported to Medical Center Hospital. The person who originally was going to ORMC transported to MCH.

The victims have not been identified at this time nor have their conditions been determined.

ECSO has interviewed multiple witnesses on scene.

"Still in the early stages of the investigation we’re still gathering our information [and] still learning things," Hewitt said.
