One dead after fatal crash in Winkler County on SH 302 and CR 101

WINKLER COUNTY, Texas — On Wednesday, May 22 at 6:25 p.m., a fatal crash occurred in Winkler County on SH 302 and CR 101 that involved two vehicles, according to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The release stated that a 2022 Ford F-150, driven by 68-year-old James Dean Daniels of Midland failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign and entered the intersection of CR 101 and SH 302 facing south. Daniels was then struck by a 2014 Peterbilt truck, driven by 46-year-old Osmany Perera Suarez of Laredo who was traveling westbound on SH 302, approaching the intersection with CR 101.

Daniels was pronounced dead at the scene.

Suarez was transported to Wrinkler County Hospital in Kermit with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation with no further information available.
