ODESSA, Texas — Sergeant Scottie Smith, who has worked for the Odessa Police Department for over 28 years, announced his retirement, according to a media release from OPD on Tuesday.
Sergeant Smith had over 34 years of law enforcement experience.
OPD says he worked in Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Training and the Professional Standards Unit.
Before working at OPD, he served as an FBI Task Force officer, firearms instructor, hazardous devices officer and peer support team member.
"Thank you, Sergeant Smith, for serving our community and leaving a positive impact," OPD said in the media release.
