Identity of suspect accused of starting an arson fire at his job Friday has been revealed

58-year-old William Arnett was fired from his job after being intoxicated at work, causing him to set coworker's punching bag on fire.

ODESSA, Texas — According to the City of Odessa's Facebook page, 58-year-old William Arnett was fired from his job at Circle C Trucking, located at 2500 W. Murphy, after being intoxicated at work. Arnett would get into a disagreement with another employee, lighting the employee's punching bag on fire.

After leaving, Arnett returned and lit some trash on fire near a pile of trees. The employee tried putting the fire out but eventually called the police and fire departments.

A suspect has been arrested by the Odessa Police Department this morning after a fire occurred at W. Murphy and Maurice. 

The fire began around 12:30 p.m. This is when Odessa Fire Rescue responded to a large trash and tire fire. Crews are still working on totally putting out the fire. 

According to a Facebook post from the City of Odessa, this has been confirmed as an arson fire. The suspect was recently fired by the company involved in the fire. 

Odessa Police Department revealed that during their investigation, it was discovered that the suspect that fled the scene in a white Chevrolet Trailblazer. 

The suspect's vehicle was found later and the driver was arrested by OPD on unrelated charges and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
