ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Odessa Fire-Rescue was called out to 406 E. 56th St. just before 6 p.m. to an explosion and structure fire.

Angela Marquez lives in the area and said she and her husband could see the smoke for miles.

"We were off of Highway 191 and saw the big billow of black smoke and my husband said it looks like it's in our neighborhood," said Marquez.

City officials said a home and two vehicles caught on fire.

We're told there were people inside a home at the time of the fire but they were able to escape without any injury.

Andrea Goodson, Public Information Officer for the city of Odessa said, "Anytime there is a structure fire we call out the utilities, ONCOR and gas to make sure we avoid any further damage."

Fire crews will remain on the scene until the fire is completely contained and safe.

Parts of the home and two vehicles are a total loss.

Streets in the immediate area were closed while officials are on scene.

Officials said the family will be staying with relatives in the area.
