Motorcyclist hit near Midland International Air and Space Port, sustained 'serious bodily injury'

On Thursday at about 6:55 p.m., a motorcyclist was hit by a car trying to turn, according to the City of Midland.

MIDLAND, Texas — A motorcyclist sustained "serious bodily injury" after being hit by a car Thursday night near the Midland International Air & Space Sport, according to the City of Midland.

At about 6:55 p.m., the Midland Police Department responded to an accident involving a motorcycle near Midland International Air and Space Port.

An initial investigation by police revealed that a car was driving south and in the turning lane of FM 1788 near Loop 40, west of the airport.

According to a media release from the city, the car didn't see a motorcyclist driving north in the outside lane of FM 1788 and the car tried to turn and hit the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital with "serious bodily injury." 

The driver of the car was released pending further investigation.
