MIDLAND, Texas — On Wednesday morning, Midland College held an award ceremony to announce the nominees for two teaching excellence awards.
The 2023-24 Dr. Stan Jacobs Teaching Awards are a long-standing tradition to recognize, celebrate and honor the exceptional accomplishments of the faculty at Midland College.
There are six nominees for the the award, three transfer finalists and three workforce finalists.
MC Government/Political Science Professor Terry Gilmour spoke Wednesday about what it means to be recognized for the transfer award.
"Actually it's just overwhelming," Gilmour said. "To be chosen to be nominated by people that you work with is just immensely gratifying and something that we never expect but it sure is nice when it comes along."
Gilmour won the transfer award and Erick Gutierrez won the workforce award.
