ODESSA, Texas — Ellen Noël's Art Haus will feature 'A River' illustrated and written by picture-book maker Marc Martin for Art Tales on May 15.

Martin draws inspiration from the natural terrain he is based in, Melbourne, Australia.

Originally, 'A River' was published in 2015, but did not get released in the U.S. until March 2017.

His 32-page picture-book 'A River' was the New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Book in 2017.

The New York Times beautifully critiques Martin's work:

"Gazing out her window, a girl imagines being swept away on the river she sees, into a series of interesting and adventurous landscapes. As they recreate an imaginative journey, Martin’s immersive gouache and watercolor paintings find complex and beautiful patterns everywhere, documenting the meandering splendor of a river as well as the striking variety of environments humans have created."

The free family fun event is geared towards children ages three to five.

You have the option of going to either reading at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m., each will include a fun activity afterward.
