City of Odessa gives an update on what they learned from major crash at US 80 and Faudree Rd.

According to the City of Odessa, a police vehicle was hit after officers investigated a major crash at the intersection of US 80 and Faudree Rd. on Wednesday.

ODESSA, Texas — NewsWest 9 told you Wednesday that a major crash occurred at the intersection of US 80 and Faudree Rd., backing up traffic.

The City of Odessa has given an update on what they learned from that crash.

According to an investigation, 23-year-old Caleb Kirby, driving a white Buick Enclave, was going west on US 80. Fifty-five-year-old Carmen Rey, driving a red Chevrolet Equinox, was stopped facing south on Faudree Rd. waiting to turn east on US 80. Ashlynn Pippen, 19, driving a blue Honda Civic, was traveling east on US 80 and tried to turn north onto Faudree Rd.

Pippen failed to yield the right of way, causing Kirby to crash into Pippen's car. That crash impacted Kirby to crash into Rey before rolling into a ditch.

All three drivers were transported to a local hospital. Kirby and Rey have non-life-threatening injuries, while Pippen is in critical condition.

While the Odessa Police Department and Odessa Fire Rescue were investigating the crash, 48-year-old Yosvani Sanchez Alvarez, driving a white Dodge Ram 2500, was going south on Faudree Rd. and made an improper turn east on US 80 and crashed into an unoccupied OPD white Chevrolet Silverado.

Alvarez and the passenger in his vehicle were cited for fail to display driver's license and improper turn.

There were no injuries due to this crash.
