HOBBS, N.M. - A Hobbs man, convicted of killing two women last year, will be getting another trial soon.

31-year-old Paul Lovett was charged with the deaths of 26-year-old Elizabeth Garcia and 35-year-old Patty Simon.

The murders took place back in 2002 and they were 16 months apart.

Both women were stabbed and their throats were slit.

The New Mexico Supreme Court ordered the new trial back in August because the first one combined both cases into a single trial.

They overturned the conviction in Garcia's death, but upheld his conviction of raping and murdering Simon.
