ECISD puts out guidelines for graduation

To make things safer and more orderly, ECISD puts out guidelines for those attending graduations.

ODESSA, Texas —

On Thursday night, Permian High School is holding their graduation at Ratliff Stadium. On Friday night, it will be Odessa High's turn. For the graduations, ECISD is implementing guidelines for those attending.

Here are the guidelines that the district put out.

Graduation day at Ratliff Stadium is almost here, and we want to make sure everyone has a blast while staying safe and following the rules. Here's a quick rundown of stadium guidelines to keep in mind.

Among the guidelines are things like no airhorns or noisemakers, as well as no balloons or confetti.

The district says there’s a reason for no loud noises.

“And I know you've seen a lot of different things on there and it seems like it's no, no, no. But it's really just to accommodate the families and the stands and the kids on the field and for everyone to understand that we want, we want no kid left out or behind because, you know, something was in in someone's face, or a horn was being blown and the kid couldn't hear their name or anything like that," said Tracey Borchardt, executive director of athletics for ECISD.

There is also a rule about people bringing one unopened water bottle per person. If people need more the district says the concession stands will be open Thursday night.

Things like the clear bag policy is put in place for safety reasons, but what about rules like no blankets or strollers?

“So let me start with the strollers. Carriers are welcome into the stadium. Strollers, we shy away from that because we have no place to put them. We have no place to park them. The openings that we have are for handicap seating. And so there's no stroller parking," Borchardt said. "And then as for the blankets. There's just a lot of stuff that goes under blankets that are usually not allowed in the stadium, and so stadium seats are allowed, you know, you're more than welcome to bring your stadium seat out. And I don't think we're going to worry about the cold tonight.”
