ODESSA, Texas — The City of Odessa said Tuesday morning that during the month of November, investigators with the Odessa Police Department Intelligence Unit began an investigation surrounding an overdose incident involving fentanyl.

During the investigation and reviewing surveillance, it was revealed by OPD that the Intelligence Unit identified two suspects of interest in the case. The suspects were 17-year-old Kaitlyn McKibbin and Hayley Archuleta.

Investigators said they saw McKibbin and Archuleta go to HEB on 42nd St. and Grandview Ave.

Based on information obtained by OPD from a confidential source, the investigators had reason to believe that McKibbin was at HEB to sell fentanyl. They also saw McKibbin and Archuleta smoking marijuana in the parking lot.

The investigators went up to the pair and after a probable cause search of a vehicle, the officers located marijuana and 5.5 grams of fentanyl laced pills.

According to the City of Odessa's post, this fentanyl distribution was a non-fatal overdose incident.

McKibbin and Archuleta were arrested for possession of marijuana and manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance.

The investigation into the overdose has been completed, according to the post, and the victim is recovering.
