Texas DPS confirms a man has died in Monday officer-involved shooting

41-year-old Wesley Wells has been confirmed dead following the incident. The Texas Rangers are continuing to investigate and we will continue to update you.

MIDLAND COUNTY, Texas — Texas DPS has confirmed that a man has died in the officer-involved shooting from Monday morning.

DPS Seargent Steven Blanco tells NewsWest 9 that 41-year-old Wesley Wells is now dead after the incident in Greenwood.

The investigation is still being worked by the Texas Rangers and more updates won't be released until the case is in front of a Midland County grand jury. 

We will continue to update you as we learn more.

On Monday, according to a press release from Midland County Sheriff's Office, at about 11:50 a.m. Monday, MCSO responded to an aggravated assault in Northeast Midland in Greenwood.

When the deputies got there, they were involved in an officer-involved shooting.

The incident is now being investigated by the Texas Rangers. We've reached out to the Rangers and this is all the information they are releasing at this time.

They did not say if this is related to the Greenwood ISD "secure" situation.
