ODESSA, Texas — The Odessa Police Department arrested 30-year-old Bret Asencio for allegedly burglarizing Manuel's Tamale Factory in Odessa on March 18, according to an OPD press release.
According to OPD, after the alleged burglary on Monday, surveillance footage positively identified Asencio as the suspect in the burglary. Then, a burglary warrant was obtained by OPD.
On Tuesday, at approximately 6 p.m., when officers were driving in the area of West 10th St. and North Grant Ave., they identified Asencio. When OPD made contact with Asencio, he started running away from officers northbound on Grant. Then, he was later caught in a nearby alley.
Asencio was arrested for burglary of a building and evading arrest with prior convictions. He was transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
Officers discovered during an investigation that Asencio was arrested for burglary of a building seven times within the last five years.
