Man in Odessa arrested after side-swiping motorcycle then firing multiple shots at motorcycle occupants

ODESSA, Texas — A man identified as Larry Polanco was arrested Saturday night for side-swiping a motorcycle and then later firing multiple shots at the motorcycle riders, according to the Odessa Police Department.

According to an arrest affidavit, the driver of the motorcycle and passenger said they were going west on 42nd St., passing Andrews Highway, when a blue Ram 1500 nearly hit them.

According to the affidavit, the motorcycle driver revved his engine to warn the driver of the Ram 1500 that they were almost hit. That's when Polanco then came back, hit his brakes and intentionally side-swiped the motorcycle numerous times.

The affidavit also states that the motorcycle occupants went back to their home and Polanco followed them. That is when Polanco fired multiple shots in their direction.

According to the arrest affidavit, three to four gunshots struck the victims' residence and the back window of a truck at the home.

After an OPD officer was done meeting with the motorcycle riders, a couple minutes later, the officer spotted Polanco's vehicle going northbound on Golder Ave., according to the affidavit.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and then arrested Polanco. Due to what the officer discovered throughout the investigation, Polanco was charged with DWI, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, deadly conduct discharge firearm and unlawful carry of a weapon.

According to jail records, Polanco was booked into the Ector County Detention Center on a $42,000 bond. The same day, Polanco was released.
