A man in Big Spring arrested for murder and burglary; allegedly a part of two different shootings and theft

25-year-old Ray Alvarado has been booked into the Howard County Jail for murder and outstanding burglary of a habitation warrant.

BIG SPRING, Texas — Twenty-five-year-old Ray Alvarado was arrested in Big Spring Tuesday after police say they issued a warrant for murder, but before they could find him to make the arrest, they think he committed three more crimes.

According to the Howard County Crime Stoppers, Howard County deputies found the body of 32-year old Christopher Semmelmann on the side of the road in the 3800 block of N. Hwy 87 on Dec. 15.  Deputies say the man was “recently murdered" in the 100 block of Jonesboro Rd.

Deputies received an arrest warrant on Dec. 19 for Alvarado in reference to the murder of Semmelman, but before police could make the arrest, Alvarado became a suspect in three other incidents that day.

Alvarado is suspected of being the primary suspect in the death of 55-year-old David Holsenbeck.  Holsenbeck was shot on Dec. 19 and then was transported to Scenic Mountain Medical Center for treatment. According to SMMC staff, Holsenbeck died as a result of the injuries he sustained from gunshot wounds.  An autopsy has been scheduled for Dec. 22 to attempt to confirm the cause of death.

Alvarado is also suspected in the shooting of 34-year old Rosendo Deanda.  According to Howard County Crime Stoppers, Deanda is in critical condition at University Medical Center in Lubbock.

Howard County Crime Stoppers say that Alvarado was transported to the Howard County Jail and booked for the murder of Semmelmann and outstanding burglary of a habitation warrant. Deputies apprehended Alvarado after they found him hiding in the back yard of a residence located in the 2300 block of Runnels St.

According to jail records, Alvarado's bond for burglary has been set at $500,000 and his bond for murder has been set at $1 million.
