New details released in reference to a barricaded suspect after family violence call in Midland

According to the City of Midland, 40-year-old Jason Williams slammed the door on officers and threatened them with a knife and gun.

MIDLAND, Texas — New details have been released by the City of Midland in reference to a suspect who barricaded himself after a family violence call Thursday night. The suspect has been identified as 40-year-old Jason Williams.

According to a media release from the city, at 9:52 p.m., the Midland Police Department was called to the 1900 block of North Midland Drive because of a disturbance with a weapon. Officers learned that Williams was armed with a knife and was not allowing his girlfriend to leave the apartment.

When officers arrived, they saw both people in the residence through an open door. Then, when officers went up to the door, Williams slammed the door on the officers.

According to the media release, Williams started making verbal threats to harm officers with a gun and knife.

Officers then forced entry into the apartment and successfully removed the girlfriend before Williams slammed the door again and barricaded himself inside the apartment.

The media release stated that after one hour of negotiations, Williams surrendered peacefully to MPD and was taken into custody.

Williams was transported to a Midland County jail and was booked for multiple charges.
