What goes into preparing for Black Friday on the retailer's side

It's not just a busy time for the shoppers, the shops at Midland Park Mall had a lot on their plate too.

MIDLAND, Texas — People say Black Friday is one of, if not the busiest day of the year when it comes to shopping.

And that isn't just for shoppers.

It goes both ways and affects retailers as well.

Retailers like the Midland Park Mall for example have to prepare way in advance for Black Friday to make sure that things run smoothly for everyone involved.

"Well, you know, the stores start getting prepared about a month in advance," Heather Anderson, Director of Marketing at the Midland Park Mall, said. "They start coordinating what their sales are going to be, what inventory they're going to have in stores and then coordinating us staff here as well; making sure that we can accommodate whatever their early shopping sales are going to be."

Anderson also says that another thing that the mall changes up during the big day is security because of just how busy things get.

"The safety and security of our shoppers, the staff, and the retailers is our number one priority," Anderson continued. "Our security team has taken extra measures to do things seen and unseen to ensure the security and we're working really closely with the Midland Police Department to make sure we have plenty of security officers here to make sure everything goes well."

Anderson says that even with Black Friday going on, they're also getting a head start on planning for the Christmas season as well.
