ODESSA, Texas — The Ellen Noel Art Museum played host to Steven Porterfield, the owner of vintage clothing store The Cat's Meow in Midland. On Thursday night, Porterfield showed off different pieces of clothing from the History of American Fashion.
Porterfield spoke about those pieces and also about his relationship with the museum, a relationship that has lasted more than 20 years.
"Part of my job has been to find things that were rare and hard to find and actually repair them and conserve them and actually put them in museums, get them into museums," Porterfield said. "They have watched me evolve over the years because I've worked with him for over 20 years. They've actually supported me through the process of learning more and more."
Once the Ellen Noel Art Museum finishes renovations, Porterfield will have his own space at the museum that he hopes to educate the public.
