HOBBS, NM (KWES) - A Hobbs man is in jail following a breaking and entering incident
Timothy Salazar, 33, was arrested for breaking and entering Monday morning.
At approximately 12:16 a.m. on Monday Hobbs officers responded to a house on East Copper in response to a report of breaking and entering.
Officers observed a living room window broken out and a folding lawn chair placed in front of it upon arrival at the scene.
Upon entering the residence, officers detained Salazar who stated that he had been knocking on multiple doors before going inside the house in an attempt to get help and escape from two people who were reportedly trying to hurt him.
The owner of the house confirmed that Salazar had rung the doorbell multiple times prior to breaking into the house.
The homeowner reportedly took out his pistol, confronted Salazar and instructed him to get on the ground, which Salazar complied with. He held the suspect at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived.
Salazar was taken to Lea Regional Hospital for a cut on his right hand.
Investigation is still ongoing.
