PERMIAN BASIN - It's not something to write home about.

Some schools in the Permian Basin are getting a seal of disapproval.

The Texas Education Agency released their list of schools that are considered the worst in Texas.

Here's how they identify those schools.

A campus had to have 50 percent or less of it's students pass the TAKS test two of the last three years, or the school had to be rated unacceptable in two of the last three years.

In Midland, seven schools landed on that list.

Ector County didn't do much better, with six schools listed.

Over in Big Spring, two schools didn't do very well, and Andrews had one of their campuses land on the list.

The list gives students the right to transfer next year, but only if the district approves it.

If you'd like to take a look at which schools are considered the worst, click on news links at the top of the page.
