Traffic stop leads to arrest for prohibited weapon
Odessa police arrested a man for having a prohibited weapon with no serial number after a traffic stop. Officers pulled over Gary Newell, 45, just after midnight Saturday in the 2800 block of East 11th St. According to Odessa police, officers then found a sawed off shotgun behind a seat. ODESSA, TX (KWES) - A traffic stop led to the arrest of a man in Odessa for having a prohibited weapon with no serial number in his vehicle.
Officers pulled over Gary Newell, 45, just after midnight Saturday in the 2800 block of East 11th St.
According to Odessa police, officers then found a sawed off shotgun behind a seat. The serial number and model number on the shotgun had been tampered with.
Newell was arrested and charged with prohibited weapon and tampering with identification number.
