Man Arrested After Stealing Meat Products From Odessa Store

ODESSA – One man is behind bars on several charges following an incident on Sunday night in Odessa.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, they responded to El Rancho Supermarket on East 8th Street in reference to a subject fighting a security officer.

When officers arrived on the scene, they spoke with store staff who stated they saw a man conceal several meat products inside his pants and exit the store without paying for them.

We're told when the store manager confronted the suspect, 44-year-old Alfred Sanchez, he punched the manager in the face and began running out of the store. A security officer came and assisted the store manager in catching Sanchez until police arrived at the store.

Officials say $62 worth of meat was returned to the store.

Sanchez was later arrested accordingly and investigation revealed that Sanchez had three outstanding warrants for his arrest, including a felony narcotic warrant.

Also as Sanchez was being booked into jail, officers found $13 worth of meat concealed in his pants.
