ODESSA - An artist in Marfa is coming to Odessa to showcase her new controversial work at UTPB.
Bettina Landgrebe's installation of her "Beaten With a Hammer" series focuses on the thousands of women that have been murdered over the past decade in Juarez.
This phenomenon called "Feminicidos" is mainly a result of the drug war in Mexico.
While the description might make you think the display will be graphic, Landgrebe explains it in a different way.
She says it is a series of objects that are suspended in mid-air and that each heart has the name, age, date and death of the victims.
The opening reception for this new series is set to start Friday night at 7 p.m. in the Nancy Fyfe Cardozier Gallery at the UTPB Art Building.
Landgrebe will also be giving a talk about the installation an hour before the reception.
