ODESSA - There are seven arrest affidavits in total for all seven charges laid against 45-year-old Bryan Berta, who taught 9th grade world geography at Bonham Junior High School in Odessa.

He was issued four charges of sexual assault when he was arrested on Monday, and then three charges of improper relationship between an educator and a student when he was arrested again on Wednesday, all second-degree felonies.

The arrest affidavits state that Odessa Police were informed of the relationship on June 8th by the female student's stepfather, whom she confessed to.

According to the affidavits, the relationship began at the end of April, when Berta visited the girl's house and they had sex on two separate weekends between April 23rd and May 14th, while her parents were away in Pecos.

Other affidavits state that on June 3rd, the girl went to Berta's classroom where they had sex twice in a back room, then went to lunch at Taco Villa, and had sex twice more in the same classroom that day.

One more affidavit detailed their having sex once more in the classroom before school ended this year.

The only details we have on the girl is that she took Berta's class this past school year and that she is under 17.

Berta is being held behind bars at the Andrews County Jail on $90,000.
