MIDLAND - An update on the Midland police officer who was injured on Thursday while trying to dismantle an oilfield explosive device.
On Sunday, NewsWest 9 learned 40-year-old Sergeant Brian Rackow has been moved from the Intensive Care Unit to a private room at University Medical Center in Lubbock.
The explosive device went off Thursday at the police training facility on FM 307.
Officials tell NewsWest 9, he has numerous injuries to his face, chest, arms and legs.
The ATF in Lubbock and Midland Police are still investigating.
The city has set up an account at Community National Bank under the Brian Rackow benefit.
