REEVES COUNTY - Former workers at the Reeves County Detention Center end up on the other side of the bars.

Jacob Guzman, a former jailer, was sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison for accepting bribes, tampering with evidence, and trying to smuggle contraband into the prison in Pecos.

Two other guards, Jerri Ornelas and Sylvia Chairez, were given two years behind bars for sneaking in contraband for cash.

Former teacher, Velam Jean Payan, received the same sentence for bringing marijuana and tobacco in for inmates.

And former case manager, Moises B. Martinez, junior was given two and a half years for smuggling contraband as well.
