A man crashes his car into tree in Odessa, later dies at hospital

70-year-old Robert Lee Harmon was driving on N West County Rd. when for an unknown reason, he crossed all lanes of traffic and struck a tree.

ODESSA, Texas — The City of Odessa tells NewsWest 9 that a man in Odessa crashed his car into a tree Monday and later died at Medical Center Hospital due to injuries he sustained.

According to the city, on Monday, 70-year-old Robert Lee Harmon, driving a red 2023 Chevrolet Spark, was traveling southbound in the 4400 block of N West County Rd. when he crossed all lanes of traffic for an unknown reason and crashed into a tree.

Harmon was transported to Medical Center Hospital by Odessa Fire Rescue. He would later die at MCH.

The City of Odessa says that an investigation is on-going to determine if a medical issue was the cause of Harmon striking the tree.

Next of kin has been notified.
