More rain and storms for the week ahead

Widespread rain and storms remain in the forecast.

It's been another stormy day across Central Texas, and this pattern continues as we head into the upcoming week. However, all eyes this evening are on the fireworks forecast, and thankfully we're not expecting it to be a complete washout.

Scattered showers and storms capable of locally heavy rain and lightning will continue into the early evening hours, but overall rain chances should be much lower once the sun goes down and we lose the day time heating.

Keep an eye on the radar this evening, but after 8 or 9 p.m., we're only expecting isolated showers and storms. So most storms die down in time for fireworks, and we'll also enjoy the rain-cooled air.

We're not done with the rain chances after the Fourth. Widespread showers and storms are expected once again for both Monday and Tuesday. The benefit of the rainy weather is that highs will stay well below average for this time of the year.

Rain chances may trend lower by the end of the week and next weekend but, for now, we'll keep at least scattered showers and storms in the forecast. Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches will be possible over the next 7 days.
