Highs near 90 this week as weak cold front moves in | FORECAST

Cooler temperatures typically start moving through South Texas in late September, early October.

SAN ANTONIO — Happy Sunday! The day will be filled with plenty of sun and heat. High temperatures in the San Antonio metro will climb into the middle-90s.

As humidity continues to pour in from the gulf and a frontal boundary north of San Antonio, this will help produce evening isolated showers and thunderstorms.

Rain coverage will be low as we wrap up the weekend.

As this front slides through on Monday, this will help with a "cooler" trend for South Texas.

Afternoon highs will be closer to seasonal average in the upper-80s. Add in lower humidity and a light northeast breeze, it'll "feel" somewhat like Fall.

The biggest change in the forecast will be the late nights and early mornings. With drier air moving in this week, overnight lows will drop down into the lower-60s. This will be a welcomed change after one of the hottest summers on record.

Tropical Storm Ian will move closer to Cuba this evening. Tropical Storm and Hurricane Watches are in effect for the Cayman Islands and Western Cuba.

As Ian enters the Southern Gulf, a quickly intensifying storm is expected. The forecast calls for a major hurricane near Category 4 status on the northwestern coast of Florida around Thursday and Friday.
