MIDLAND, Texas — The City of Midland has announced it has closed a portion of A Street for major utility replacements.

The portion impacted by this closure is primarily the part between Texas Avenue and Wall Street.

Additionally, the block from Illinois Ave. to Texas Ave. will be restricted to southbound traffic only.

Wall Street will be fully closed at the A Street intersection, though Missouri Avenue is available as a detour. Eastbound traffic can use Texas Avenue now that has been reopened at A Street.

The city says this work is part of the voter-approved 2017 Road Bond project to rebuild A St. between Indiana Ave. and Cuthbert Ave.

Major water and sewer lines that are beyond the end of their service lives will be entirely replaced.

Additionally, there will be some replacement of storm drains during the project.

There is no word at this time on how long the project will last.

For more information on the project, you can visit the City of Midland Facebook page.
