ODESSA, Texas — The Odessa Police Department has confirmed that a Monahans woman died in Southeast Odessa near East Loop 338 and IH-20 after a collision with an 18-wheeler at 7:32 on Tuesday morning, causing eastbound IH-20 lanes to be shut done.
The 18-wheeler, driven by 74-year-old Vicente Aguirre, was moving East on IH-20 when 54-year-old Genoveva Hernandez of Monahans's white Nissan Sentra changed lanes unsafely and was stuck by the 18-wheeler.
Hernandez was moved to a nearby hospital and later pronounced dead by medical officials. Her next of kin have been notified.
