2 killed in head-on collision in Gaines County

DPS reports one of the drivers was on the wrong side of the road when she crashed into a Jeep traveling east.

GAINES COUNTY, Texas — Two people are dead following a head-on collision in Gaines County.

According to DPS, Wilma Delk, 51, of Andrews was driving west in the eastbound lane of US Highway 62 just after 7:30 a.m. on August 18.

At the same time, Samuel Pennington, 62, of Seminole was driving east on the same road.

Because Delk was driving on the wrong side of the road, she collided head-on with Pennington's Jeep.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

DPS reports no other people were involved in the crash and neither driver was wearing a seat belt.
