A second person was taken to the hospital.

ODESSA, Texas — A three-vehicle crash in Odessa Wednesday night left one person dead.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, preliminary information revealed that Joseph Richard Autry, 37, of Odessa was driving a Kenworth truck southbound on Loop 338. He was stopped at the red light at the intersection of 8th Street.

Jesse Vasquez, 39, of Odessa, was driving a Dodge Ram southbound on Loop 338 with passenger, Felipe F Oviedo-Castillo. The Ram rear-ended the Kenworth truck at the intersection.

The Ram then traveled across the intersection onto the northbound lanes and hit the trailer of a Freightliner driven by Samuel Rona, 42, of Laredo.

Oviedo-Castillo was ejected from the Ram and hit a Ford Escape driven by Rocky Enriquez Gonzales, 39, of Odessa.

Oviedo-Castillo was pronounced dead on scene by the Ector County Medical Examiner. Vasquez was taken to Medical Center Hospital in stable condition. Autry, Rona and Gonzales were not injured.

It is currently unknown if Oviedo-Castillo was wearing a seat belt when the crash happened.
