Greenwood Ranger All-American cheerleaders headed to London

Four Greenwood Ranger Cheerleaders are headed to London for the Varsity Spirit All-American Tours and will perform in the New Years Day parade.

GREENWOOD, TX (KWES) - Four Greenwood Ranger Cheerleaders are headed to London for the Varsity Spirit All-American Tours and will perform in the New Years Day parade.

The four were honored as All-American cheerleaders during UCA Cheer Camp this summer in San Angelo.

“It was so scary because we only learned the material a few days before. So, having just learned it and having to go out in front of all the other cheerleaders and all the other coach and parents who were watching was really nerve-racking. Plus the judges who were determining if you get to go on the trip or not,” said sophomore Rylee Biggs.

For the past five months, the girls have put in a lot of dedication and hard work.

“This is almost like playoffs for football. I think it’s harder than people think. It’s a lot more than just going out there and waving your arms in the air. I think it’s a lot more than that. You have to work really hard and try everyday to get your skills better so you can be a better cheerleader,” said Biggs.

As the girls have been preparing for this tour, the Greenwood community has been behind them every step of the way.

“Out here in Greenwood were like a big family. For us it’s really special to get to lead the community with things and I know we’re both really going to miss that," said senior Haley Russell.

The All-American cheerleaders will head to London on December 26th and perform on New Years Day. You can watch the parade live on channel 1568 or 568 for AT&T customers at 6 a.m.
