MARFA, TX (KWES) - The Texas Historical Commission’s Undertold Stories Marker Program has placed a historical marker for the Porvenir Massacre in Presidio County.

The program was created to help fill historical gaps in the Lone Star State’s history.

The Undertold Story Markers, now numbering more than 170 topics, join almost 17,000 historical markers across all 254 Texas counties, promoting stories that focus on diverse or underrepresented topics.

The marker is placed 27 miles west of Marfa on Hwy 90.
