Odessa Police Searching for Robbery Suspect

ODESSA - Odessa Police on the hunt for a man who robbed a convenience store manager on Thursday morning.

Police tell NewsWest 9, the woman was robbed in the parking lot of the 7-11 in the 3900 block of tangle wood.

The woman says a passenger in a Chevy Avalanche got out of the car and demanded her purse and store money bag that she was carrying.

When she hesitated, he lifted up his shirt and showed her a handgun tucked into his pants.

The suspect then grabbed the purse and money bag, and both men drove away.

Police caught up with the vehicle and arrested the driver, 30-year-old Jammal Rashad Johnson.

He's been charged with aggravated robbery, a first degree felony.

His passenger was nowhere to be found.

He's described as a white or light complected Hispanic male, between 5'8" and 5'11", short dark hair and a scruffy beard.

He was last seen wearing bagging jeans and a gray and yellow long sleeve shirt.
