ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Odessa Police arrested Steven Linley Hale, 31, Tuesday evening for Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More “3rd Degree Felony”, Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle “3rd Degree Felony”, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident “Class B Misdemeanor”.

According to police, they were called in reference to a suspicious vehicle on Sagebrush and advised that a truck was parked in the middle of the street and the driver was revving the engine.

Police also revealed that the vehicle, driven by Hale had backed into a fence and attempted to leave the scene.

Officers attempted to pull him over but Hale attempted to evade officers and crashed into the front of an OPD patrol unit.

Police say when Hale backed up and attempted to leave, he put the transmission back into park while revving the engine.

While officers detained Hale, they could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. He was placed into custody for driving while intoxicated. Hale, who has two prior convictions for driving while intoxicated, was charged, arrested, and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

There were no reports of any injuries.
